How I work
I am trained in depth in three different models of
therapy, psychoanalytic psychotherapy, person-centred therapy and cognitive
behavioural therapy. I therefore consider myself to be an integrative
practitioner. In all cases I offer empathy, unconditional regard and respect
for my clients.
About CBT
CBT is a structured treatment aiming to help you identify how your way of thinking and behaving affect your mood. It’s a good evidence based therapy for psychological difficulties such as depression, anxiety, panic, specific phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorder and post-traumatic stress.
CBT focuses primarily on the here and now and is a very active way of working, consisting of breaking problems down into separate parts (thoughts, behaviours, physiology) and understanding the links between them. Once we understand your difficulties in this way we will develop a plan of action that will enable you to take the steps you need to feel better and accomplish more in life. You will learn a repertoire of coping skills, appropriate to your problem areas and will have the chance to try out things between sessions, which we will then review together.
